Unlaunch'd Voices...
An Evening with

March 26, 2002

To Whom if May Concern

In January of this year Stephen Collins presented his exciting play, Unlaunch' Voices; an evening with Walt Whitman, at the Waltham Public Library. He performed to a full house and we could not accommodate all who wished to attend.

Whitman's poetry, his own words from letters and other writings and Mr. Collins wonderful acting came together in an evening that was a huge success. Walt Whitman was amongst once again for the evening! The audience listened in rapt attention as Whitman's life unfolded before us. Mr. Collins, in his one act play, provided the perfect mix of entertainment and education that our audiences like so much.

Mr. Collins engaged the audience from his first words and gestures and kept them enthralled until the end of the performance. Hi was then kind enough to allow a dialogue with the audience after the performance.

I have been scheduling the programs at the Waltham Public Library for many years and we often have theatrical performances and historical interpreters. I can say without reservation that Stephen Collins' presentation of Walt Whitman was one of the finest programs we have ever had.

Sincerely,

Tamara Chernow
Assistant Director
